HDMI or VGA

Just bought two desktops for the kids. Now need to get the monitors etc. They will be used for schoolwork, website browsing, light gaming (WoW etc). Is HDMI or VGA the way to go?

Hi keynes, yeah was hoping to use the built in speakers to start with. Son will have his xbox connected as well so he may have to use the VGA port anyway. I am looking at a couple of Phillips 227E4LHAB 21.5" monitors from PC World (grandparents gave them PCW vouchers for birthday in anticipation). Daughter mainly uses headphones for Skyping her mates.

HDMI carries audio so it might be more convenient for you.

Right, so I take it VGA will need seperate audio cables to enable sound from the monitor?

Yes, you can also use a dvi cable with a separate audio cable
