Guilty Pleasures!

OK, OK, the title might be a bit OTT for what I have in mind here, but I got your attention, right?! :)

For the sake of this post, I will define a 'guilty pleasure' along the following lines: An item/feature of your build that you really can't afford or justify given your budget/other consideration, yet one that you really want to include in the final spec.

With 'other consideration', I a have in mind things such as, say, that a case is too big for your room but you still wnat it badly or that you will have to sit too close to that 3o" monitor that you've had your eyes on for the last six months etc.

An example to clarify this. I am saving up to a new computer that I hopefully will buy at the end of January. In total, I think I will spend £1300 and for that kind of money I need everything including OS, monitor, keyboard etc. As I see it, there is really no space within that budget to include a 150Gb SSD, yet THAT is exactly what I want! To be sure, a SSD will make the system faster in terms of load times etc., but I don't think I can justify the price tag given that I will likely have to dispense with something else...

I know, a rather innocent guilty pleasure, eh?

So guys, what are your guilty pleasures? I wanna know! :D

Oh wow.

where do i start?

The 800D which i had to spend a further £30 on a lanboard just to move it.

The £300+ watercooling loop

The G13 i hardly ever use

The ninja wire that costs £10 just to hold the GPU up

The BigNG fan controller, £60 ish for programmable fan curves.

The lighting, 4 ccfl and 10 led's etc

The HD webcam i dont use

I think just about everything in my rig fits in this, a whole load of money i couldnt afford to spend.

must has the shiny though, must has the shiny.

must has the shiny though, must has the shiny.

Aahaa!, now I see why I went a couple of hundred quid over my initial budget (doesn't everyone?). While Phoenix was giving me solid advise and a spec to match my needs, Gorman was just thinking "he must has the shiny!, he must has the shiny!!" :D

i know i spent more than my budget, set it £880-1000. So of course i spec'ed to £1000 then spent another couple of hundred lol.
However i could have spent more, one evening my wife and i where messing about with a who can spend more on a computer. She loves Mac's so spec'ed a pro mac for around £17000 not wanting to lose i found a site that makes pointless monster pc's (for me anyway) total spend was around £50000. So whatever you spend here is a total bargain lol.

You could probably afford your dream, just use the money you'd save by not having to pay for holidays. You'd probably be able to get an all over tan  by sitting butt naked in front of those 6 monitors (atleast, that's the excuse you could give to the missus!) ;)
