GTX 580 or 6870 Crossfire

Hi all

I'm currently in the process of upgrading my PC, but can't decide if I should add another 6870 plus new motherboard to crossfire or buy a single GTX 580!?!

Any tips?

By the sounds of it, you already have your pc so i recommend getting a second of your card

I would go for a single580. Its better than the 6990 in some games.

I already have a 6870 but with the cost of a new mobo and 6870 for a 100.00 more i could just get a GTX 580 and SLI that when needed for future games?!? Just worried about scaling games with AMD drivers for crossfirex

A single 580 could handle most future games pretty well. Plus nvidia has CUDA which can make better graphics. Look at it like this, 1 580 is better than 2 6970's. The 6990 is about £100-£200 dearer than the 580 but the 580 still manages to beat or do around the same fps of the the 6990. Get a single 580 and then upgrade it when you have to.
