Video artifacting

Hi all,

so I thought everything was good, but I tried to watch a couple of dvds today with the fiance and found that apparently I thought too soon, both dvds had purple/green/grey squares popping up all over them and the occasional lines.

I tried reinstalling the nvidia drivers with a clean install and i tried reinstalling the default drivers too. The graphics card wasn't running hot (38 degrees) and it's not overclocked (the only time i changed any settings, was to set it to the same as the 2gb jetstream which i did nearly a week ago now and for all of about 5-10 mins before restoring defaults).

It didn't do this on the weekend while watching a blu ray video or normal dvd or even a show on the internet.

any suggestions?

hmm interestingly after a bit more investigating, it only happens with certain applications running videos, I don't get any artifacting with media player, VLC player flat out refuses to play DVDs oddly and Power DVD (the program provided for my blu ray drive) artifacts with normal dvds like a b****

alright so upon reading up on power dvd, the horrible artifacts are caused by it upscaling dvds. Problem solved
