Hi

This is my second pc build but first gaming focused build so any feedback on changes would be much appreciated.

I don't have a specific budget but around £4000 would be max.
Will use the pc for gaming, mostly RPG titles.
I do have a monitor but would be looking to upgrade so any advice would be great.

Hello, I would recommend getting a 900W PSU to be on the safer side. As it goes you'll be powering quite a lot of hardware and if you decide to add/upgrade any of the hardware in the future, I feel that the PSU may restrict what you may be able to do. other than that, I'd say you have a very good SPEC here, if you wanted to play any MMORPG's this will definitely help you get the best out of them. Let me know how this build turns out!

Personally, I'd drop the CPU down a touch because for me the price/performance gains of the 5950X wouldn't be worth the outlay. I'd switch the storage for another M.2 drive which would be a touch cheaper and faster than the Samsung SSD. The CPU would benefit from upping the cooler to the H115i RGB Platinum, negating the need for an extra fan. On-board audio is excellent so no need for a sound card. The AX200 WiFi card is faster and has built in Bluetooth, well worth it for the extra tenner. A 1000w PSU would be a good safeguard, just in case the next generation of graphics cards continue to be as power hungry as this one...

To get the best out of your RTX 3080, you're looking at two types of monitors: 4K 144Hz or superwide 1440p.

Here's a couple of suggestions...

Cats and Pigeons.... the RTX 3080 Ti is due release in January....

That means cash saving on CPU, could go to the newer better card.

Also, there are repeated rumours of an Nvidia price drop across the range (To match AMD).

they have to fit in 3050, 3060, 3070, 3080, 3090 and Ti versions for those cards down for it.

which would be decent getting a 3080Ti for same price as current 3080.

I can't see NVIDIA releasing anything new as early as January....doubt they have the capacity to produce enough given they can't even produce enough 3080s
Yes agreed it’s a large pinch of salt.

however they do have specific lines based on BoM etc.

if they have set ones up for 3060ti, 3080ti etc, irrespective of capacity a lot of companies do not changing flow lines around (can be a right pain).

Also having had numerous visits to LG, Samsung, etc, the sheer size of the manufacturing sites means scaling is usually not an issue.

The biggest issue is that since around 2016 the world has been in a components shortage, worst hit have been power supplies.

my last place went from a 6 week lead time to a 22 week lead time, the big players are paying 10’s millions just on securing components.

that in turn wipes out the component market for say capacitors and certain IC’s.

3060 is where the biggest shortage will be, that is the price point where majority of gamers live and unlike the 2060, the 3060 is worth upgrading for.
