Gaming mice question?

I currently use an oldish Razer Lachisis mouse and Razer gaming mouse mat.

When the mouse is set to a high res setting which lets you turn around fast to shoot the cursor is a little jumpy while trying to aim. I am gaming on FPS games and full 1920x1080 res,

Hope the above makes sense, turning down the resolution on the mouse makes the cursor smooth but too slow to turn around in combat. Was thinking of upgrading the mouse but would there be any point or is this just how thinks are?

Well at high resolution the mouse will detect smaller movements hence the jumpyness. I rarely use my mouse at full res if I'm honest but it is handy being able to change it. You could try it on a different mouse mat to see if that makes it any better?

Thanks for your help, tried on different surfaces but it was the same, easy to change the res as there are buttons on the top.

As long as all the other players have the same issue then I am happy.
