Gaming for under 1k

Hi all

I've been considering buying a new desktop for the last few weeks has my current system is lacking abit, plus the fact my 5770HD graphics card is ready to blow up. Though I can't complain, its served me well for the past few years. The only games I play at present is World of Warcraft & Star Wars: The Old Republic. My current i3 system averages 30-50 fps while playing WoW on medium/high settings, it averages only 20-25 fps on low settings while playing SW:ToR.

What I ideally would like is to run both on max settings on my 24 inch widescreen monitor at 1920x1080.

Here is my saved quote.

Hi,
I'd suggest a caviar black as the secondary drive and you could save some money by downgrading the motherboard to the P8Z77-V LX and still have the choice to crossfire. Is it just for gaming? Any specific reason for the OC CPU?

Hi Keynes

Well the same spec system with the standard i5-3570k @ 3.4Ghz is only £4 cheaper, having it OC'd seems worth the extra £4. Has i'm currently raiding in WoW, I would like to start and record our raids, then convert them and finally upload them to youtube.

I could change to the WD Caviar Black 1Tb, would the performance gain be that big though has it would only be used for storage?

Also, would upgrading the GPU to the 7950 3Gb card be more benificial ? If so, I could downgrade to the P8Z77-V LX to save on cash.

I use the SSD for the OS and main drivers and use the caviar black for games and other applications. With 120gb you may not be able to store many games.
I'd go with the best gpu I can afford within my budget.
