I don't think there is one. They still have paid for versions with more features, like Daz Studio Advanced and Daz Studio Pro. I'd imagine a lot of their income comes from people buying additional content, which makes up the majority of their online store - stuff like clothing packs for their 3D figures or props to add to scenes.

If Pixologic was giving away Zbrush 4 for free I'd be excited, but until then I'll stick to learning and using Blender :)

Yeah its just a way to being in more people since the majority of the profit is from selling other things. You might be interested to know you can get most the the Autodesk stuff for free, I have student versions of Maya, 3DS Max and Mudbox, just search student autodesk.

Xoil thank you for this. The last time I had used Bryce was when it was version 4 hehe
this should keep me entertained for a little while as even though it's not the best software out there it's still fun :)

Not sure if the regular versions are but the pro isn't and the offer will be ending soon-ish. And yes you can get Student Autodesk without being a student, you just pick an area and college / university from a list and thats it.

*EDIT* Thought you were aiming at me saying that it's always free, just re-read it and realised you were answering another question.
