Hi everyone, just joined and need a few thing's clearing up before I commit to buy.Firstly, can I just fit a 2.5 hd that I have spare to this machine or does it need anything else? eg an adapter.Secondly, the guy on live chat says this machine doesn't support Windows 7,is there nothing I can do to install it,certain drivers maybe? Thanks in advance.

To your second question, I have just bought an Optimus VII and I am currently dual booting Ubuntu and Windows 7. PCS do not offer any drivers for W7 so I used drivers from another manufacturer's website

So it IS possible then! I wonder why the live chat chap insisted its not feasable?

Could it bet o do with PCS covering themselves as Microsoft have announced they will only be supporting newer processors with windows 10 and removing their optimisation in windows 7 for 6th gen processors and beyond.

I would rather buy it without an OS and install the copy of Win7,then if I want I can install Win 10 from there.would it be a tricky job getting all the relevant drivers to make Win7 work?

The guy on live chat has just told me that I now don't need to buy an operating system for the optimus, and that I could install my own win7, confused now.....

Just been chatting to guy who runs a pc repair business and he confirmed to me that win 7 can be installed on the optimus 7,so it looks like that is the option for me - no OS and to install a second drive and memory myself.
