First time getting a pc is this spec good or not

This is my first time getting a pc and I’m gonna use it for some gaming and Just work for college etc and I wanted to know if this spec is good enough or too much or too little any help would be great thanks.

What is your budget? Which monitor are you looking to game on? Are you aiming for 1080P gaming?

I'm fairly certain there are much better options to choose but if you can answer the above we can have a little gander at some spec options for you

I haven’t got the highest budget so not too much more than what it is now at £600. I’ve already got 2 “ThinkVision L2440p 24-inch Wide Monitor (4420)” and I’d ideally like to aim for 1080p gaming if possible but I’m not like a hardcore gamer

Do you have another drive to fit for the games? Just thinking that 240GB isn't really going to be enough for Windows, Programs and any more than a couple of games at any one time.

Here is what I have put together. I've had to compromise a little to try and stay as close to the budget as possible.

Some notes:

The case is fantastic, it will cover any gaming build that you care to have in the future so it is chosen for being extremely good whilst still being affordable. In the future, keep the case, just change the internals.

AMD 3600 CPU - It cannot be beaten for the money. The chipset also has a future unlike Intel. This system will take the next generation CPU but you won't need it with the 3600 in place right from the start.

8GB of RAM - This is one of the compromises. I would normally recommend 16GB (2x8GB) of 3200MHz . The budget simply doesn't allow. If you want to save a little more for the have it all, this would be recommended. The RAM I have selected isn't particularly fast but it's the only 8GB offering. To go with the recommendation would cost approx £80 more.

The GPU is suitable for your needs.

Storage isn't really enough. I've selected one of the faster M2 drives as this is the best bang for buck. I would recommend at least a 2TB conventional drive in the build as well. This would cost around £70. 1TB would get you by for now, which would be around £40.

The PSU limits your future upgrade potential but it was really the only option at this budget. 550Tmx would be the normal go to at this sort of level and allow for a wealth of future upgrades. Cost for that would be approx £50.

I've dropped the WIFI. If you need Wifi you will want the AX200 which costs £18. The standard option isn't worthwhile as it will be very slow and very limited. The AX200 is the new standard.

I've selected the silver warranty as it's only £5 and allows free returns for any issues over the first year.

You could possibly save with the windows installation if you are a student. Often you can get discount licenses for educational purposes. It may be worthwhile looking into that as you could save £100, give or take, which could be put to good use.

Just for another option.....

The AMD 2600X is a good option at this budget. It's not as good as the 3600 and it IS a generation behind, but it is great for your uses and the chipset still allows for current and next generation chips due at the end of the year. It has the same upgrade potential as the above build but, thanks to the cheaper cost, it allows for a 1TB secondary HDD and the Wifi within the same costs...
