First PC Build

Hi Everyone,

I am wanting to build a PC primarily for gaming. For playing games like COD warzone mainly. I currently have a laptop from PCS that I bought a few years ago, not really for gaming. I have tried to use it for warzone but it seems to struggle a little. I also edit videos in 1440p from time to time.

Budget around £1500. I currently have this monitor

I would like to build so it will last a few years (GPU, RAM etc)

Thank you in advance for any suggestions or advice.

Hi,

Thats brilliant thank you. Just a couple of things.

Will the gaming or editing be compromised in any way by trying to build to suit both?
I am aiming to game in 1080p at up to 144 fps as determined by the monitor. Will this build support this?
Would there be any benefit in stretching up to £2k or would that be overkill?

Thanks again

Thank you!
And the monitor seems limited to 60hz if you go higher than 1080p? Doesnt give me the option to run any higher than 60.

I know! It is definitely that model and says 144hz on the box. I use a HDMI from my laptop to the monitor and if I keep the resolution in the display settings as 1440p it only lets me go as high as 60hz but if I drop to 1080p it gives me up to 120?

Could be the HDMI port in the laptop maybe or the HDMI cable limiting it?

Thanks

The laptop is quite old so could be that. I have just ordered a display port to mini display port as my laptop has a mini connection to see if that makes a difference. Thank you
