First build help please

Budget: up to approx. £2500 (this is a little flexible if something will really make a significant difference for longevity)

This is my first PC build and I'm somewhat clueless. I've followed some guides, but is there anything I'm missing/should upgrade or scale back on? Is it worth including more RAM now to save replacing later? Higher PSU?
This will be an upgrade from a 4 year old laptop with an i7-9750H, 16GB RAM, RTX2060.

Looks good but I would wait for the 5070 GPU to be available as this would be a significant step up in performance from the 4070.

The 9800X3D is definitely the right choice for the CPU. You might also benefit from faster RAM than 4800 too. If 5600 or 6000 speed is not significantly more expensive then it would be worth going to that.

I would hesitate long and hard before getting a 70-class graphics card for a 4K display. It's really not enough. I'd (a) wait for the reviews of the new graphics cards coming out this month, and (b) make sure I'm getting something that can handle that monitor.

At 4K, the benefits of the X3D chip are minimal in almost all games, whereas you really, really want a beast of a graphics card. I'd put a lot more of the budget there, rather than in CPU and in storage and fancy fans.

Thanks for the replies. I'm in need of an upgrade sooner than later, and I imagine that a new 5070 could be tricky to get my hands on quickly.

Assuming the GPU will be either 4070 or 5070, is there anything else to adjust in this updated version (faster RAM and better PSU included):

The component balance looks good to me.

If you were aiming for the white aesthetic then there are more white options on the Luna configurator (comparable build below).

Unfortunately, due to the GPU refresh cycle, there's only 4060 level GPUs in white available, so remember to add £500-£600 on for a 40/5070 series GPU.

Mainly used for gaming, and will be more than enough for the types of things I play.

This build is at the top of my budget and I've attempted to consider any future upgrades where I can with PSU. Waiting for a 5070 isn't really an option for me right now and I'm okay with that.

Is there anywhere I need to beef things up or can otherwise trim? I've considered a white 5000X case instead as it's a little cheaper but it probably makes better sense to choose black with black components.

If the case you want isn’t currently on the configurator, then I’d suggest ordering it from elsewhere and getting it delivered to PCS using the ‘Send In Your Own Case’ option that I used for the 6500X case before it was on the tool.
