if its just for gaming get the i5-2500k and a 750w psu for overclocking or make it 1000w to SLI later

why would he need to degrade his processor, but then upgrade the power supply? and the 2600k is a better version than the 2500k. and anyways, power supplies are mainly used to support the power of the graphics cards?

stick with the i7, but yes, if you can afford it, get the 1050W PSU so you have the option to get a second 580 later when they are much cheaper

Well the i7 had hypertreading and thats the only thing main difference and thats not very important to games i5 would be ceaper and what he needs. Higher psu, for me i would have a bigger one to feel safe and not to blow up my pc lol

I'm going to stick with the I7 I was kinda of wrong to say this is only for gaming, I usually record my footage and do a lot of rendering for a friend.

I also upped the power, it was something I was going to do before, but it must have slipped my mind.

Anyhow, thanks it's always good to get a second opinion. :D

What he said the 2500k is exactly the same as the i7-2600k when it comes to gaming, so why spend more. It only helps with programs such as vid editing so if the OP just wants to game best bet is the 2500k
