Final Revision of new pc - I hope

I think I have got my selection sorted now for my new pc which will be mainly used for gaming
I wanted as quiet system as possible hence the case, I was going for the Fractal R3 but have read that it isn't very good for cooling, although I don't know if the Coolmaster is any better despite its name, but it does have similar soundproofing

I might want to overclock later on or at least use the boost feature of the bios, so the 2600k

The hard disks I chose because of speed again, rather than buying an SSD at the moment, I have read there is some possibility of problems of two hards disks in Raid 0 if one fails but I can alway re-install the games, there will be nothing important saved on them

I might add another graphics card later hence the 1000w power supply

I was going to have Coolit ECO cooling, but after reading about leakages on this forum, I dont think I will risk it.

Any suggestions if anything could be improved would be appreciated

Pretty sure you won't see much difference between the i7 2600k and the i5 2500k if you are only using it for gaming, but its good for bragging rights I guess.

The gains from raid 0 will be pretty negligible, but every little helps

Totally agree with you about the water cooling and good move switching to the Fenrir BUT I would definitely recommend getting a bigger case especially if you plan on future SLi and o/c'ing for improved airflow

Found http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/CoolIT-ECO-Liquid-Cooling-System-Review/987/8 so big case + decent fans would seem to be better

Looks great!

You've gone for a similar build to mine. I've chosen the GTX 570 instead. Your video card and mine are both neck and neck. If you still haven't ordered, you might want to change your card the GTX 570. It get's a higher rating in benchmarks usually, and a higher fps in most games. I'm actually getting the EVGA GTX 570 - So I choose the 'none, I already have a graphics card' option. The EVGA version is slightly overclocked giving it an additional 10-15% performance. It also uses less wattage, so you could go with the CORSAIR 850w PSU, with some breathing room left over after SLI. Your choice though.

- I'm getting the CoolerMaster HAF 922 MID-TOWER case. I've been reading tons of reviews and it really keeps your hardware cool.

- If your not going to overclocking, get the £19 CPU cooler, and if you are, you might want to consider the first Water Cooler. Leaking is probably not a big hazard.

- I'm getting 4GB of RAM (enough) and upgrading to six in the near future. Saves some more money.

I would put the RAM down to 4GB - Get the GTX570 (or EVGA GTX570) separately) - get the CoolerMaster HAF 922. All up to you though.

I did a reply earlier in the evening but it seems to have got lost, Been doing some more research after both of your replies

, It seems you are correct the i5 2500k is better for gaming so I think i will go for that one. The same with raid I think one bigger drive will be just as fast

I think I will follow your advice, it seems the hd 5970 get very hot and noisy.
I am still not going for liquid cooling though, I would be worrying about it all the time, lol
I wanted a pc that would run BF3 when it comes out at full detail without crawling when a lot is happening, like my present pc does on low quality

Thanks for your replies they have been very useful, with the money I save I can buy something else or just spend less and stop my wife moaning so much

having 2 hdd's isnt a bad idea tho, handy for backups etc, e.g 500Gb primary and 1Tb secondary

I would def consider upgrading the case to something a bit bigger and with better airflow and why not take the wife out for a meal with any money you save from changes, can't go wrong then :)
