Faulty Exhaust Fan

model of case: HAF 922

This has happened 3 times now in the past week: the large 200mm TOP exhaust fan slows down to a crawl and i can hear a rattling noise. I've taken the side panels off and can see nothing touching the fan blades, plus the screws holding the fan in place are secure.
If i shut down the PC and restart, the problem goes.
Any suggestions ?

Check the fan connectors and see if theirs anything out of place. There has to be something physically wrong with the fan or the cables. But for good measures check the BIOS for anything but I doubt its that.

You could compare the faulty fans connectors and another fans

have you got another 200mm fan you could switch it with? to test if happens with another fan,

What port is the fan plugged into?

Stretch 2 finger's so they are touching 2 fan blade's that are opposite each other. Gently try and rock the fan. If there is a little movement the fan is starting to wear. If there is a lot of movement it's U.S.
Some fan's can be pushed toward's the heatsink, This is normal.

I removed and then replaced the wire connecting the 200mm fan to the M/B. Things seemed ok for 2 or 3 days, then on start up this morning it slowed to a crawl again and begin the same vibrating noise. Unsure as what you mean when you say 'check the bios'.

If i apply some pressure with my hand on the grill directly above the fan, it calms the rattling down somewhat. But the vibration and noise is worrying.

Checked ASUS Bios Utility (got following readings *fan speeds*)

CPU_FAN (Blue Value) PWR_FAN (Blue Value) -706rpm
CHA_FAN1(Blue Value) CHA_FAN2 (Blue Value) - 596rpm
BUT changes to RED Value now and then**

** This is the top exhaust fan

The current power settings was on efficient setting - I've tried changing that to the second option 'Normal'.

Any ideas/comments ?
