Fan Question

Good afternoon PC Specialist.

Got my Computer about 11 days ago, and i've just about finished organising all my files and installing all my old softwares etc. I am very very pleased with what you guys did. You lot are heroes. From assembling all the way to packaging. 20/10 I would give you guys. Thanks to: Built by: Adam Kirby, Tested By: Garnet Heller, QC'd By: Adnaan Marban, Packed By: Anthony Cunliffe.

It said my case (HAF 922) comes with 3 fans but the side fan was completely missing when the package arrived. I'm not sure if this way accidental or intentional because I got water cooling in it. Order 342499. I'm at work right now and can't use a phone here to ask. Thought I just post instead. Thanks.

Also, is there way to control the speed of the fan? I say this because the front fan is super duper quiet, but the top fan starts becoming a bit noisy for my liking when I start doing the smallest things like watching a video to rendering a Full HD clip, I have to put background music on just to balance it out.

Thanks in advance guys.

P.S : I promise you with my soul, if I win the lottery at some point in my life I will defently donate a nice 7 digit figure to PC Specialist employees.

Hey

I got the same case without the watercooling but with the fenrir cooler and I only have the front fan and top fan, the side panel doesnt have anything on it which I thought there would have been a fan so I would like to know also if there was supposed to be a fan there or not.

"Features 1 x 200mm front red LED fan, 1 x 200mm top fan, 1 x 120mm rear fan" from the features list if you click on it.

The side mesh has slots that you can fit your own fans. When you buy the the case on its own, it doesn't come with a side fan in the box.

Hello and welcome!

In line with the comments from PCS.

If the tester feels that the fan is likely to interrupt the airflow of the case or is obstructed in anyway by the dimensions of the cooler it will be left off.

This is considered on a machine by machine basis and is for optimum performance. If however you feel that we got it wrong :)eek:) or you would prefer the fan then contact our helpdesk through the usual channels and we will sort it out.

Or do our best to convince you of the error in your ways ;)

Hi Gorman,

I figured something like that, just wanted to confirm. I'm happy with it :)

Anything about the fan speed as mentioned in the first post?

Thanks

Im going to go on an educated guess here as im not in contact with these cases everyday through my role.

If i was to guess why certain fans comply with the Chassis Q-fan settings and another doesnt it would be most likely that due to either not enough headers on the board or a wiring issue they have plugged the offending fan into a normal molex power connector and not into the boar, making it spin at a constant speed.

the top fan starts becoming a bit noisy for my liking when I start doing the smallest things like watching a video to rendering a Full HD clip

Suggests otherwise and it may just be that the fan is larger and simply moves more air / makes more noise at full revs, or even that the quiet fan is the one on a molex at a constant speed.

If you go into BIOS and edit your Q-fan profile for the chassis to silent then that should temper the noise and will not have a drastic effect on cooling. If you have one of our watercooling units, be aware that depending on configuration this may also slow down the fan or pump depending on config.
