Extra RAM Query

I don't think there's any adverse effect but I'll check here anyway.

My daughters PC (also PC Spec) has 16 GB of Corsair RGB Vengeance DDR 4 3200 RAM, we ddi try upgrading with 2 more 8 GB sticks of the same RAM from Amazon but it seems it wasn't compatible.

We're just going to replace the 2 x GB sticks with 2 x 16 GB sticks, same speed, and timings etc, according to the motherboard it is compatible, assuming it is, can I bung the old 16 GB in too without any issue?

Is this a PC specialist build?

RAM needs to be match and can cause a lot of problems if it doesn't. The need to have the same timings, speeds or even the same manufactured date in some instances and can be very very particular

Also 16GB is generally massive overkill for 90% of games so I don't think adding more RAM will add much performance unless your daughter plays heavily modded titles or Microsoft Flight Sim 2020

Firstly, why do you need more RAM?

Adding more RAM doesn't affect performance at all unless programs actually require that extra RAM.

Just adding more doesn't increase speed at all in any way. All it does is maintain normal speed if an application actually requires it.

But for most uses 16gb is more than enough

So what is it you need the extra RAM for?

She's doing graphics design with Photoshop being a large part of that.

Oh, yeah, absolutely then, makes sense.

2 x 16 would be a good first step.

The lower end motherboards are limited in the total RAM they can install, usually 32Gb so it depends on her specs.

Can you post the full specs from the order page?

Ah, yeah, that's find with loads of RAM

I'd buy 2 x 16, just make sure they're the same timings as the existing ones, and more importantly the same voltages.

So long as those two things are the same, the other sticks should work also in the same system.
