Ethernet speed slow?

Hi guys, I've a bit of a problem with my internet on my PC and that being that the ethernet connection is so slow. To the point that wireless is actually faster. I've restarted my router to ensure that wasn't the issue, I've contacted Sky (my broadband provider) and they said there was no issues on there end. Could it be a hardware issue or would it be best that I get a new ethernet cable altogether? Do keep in mind it's got to be long (as in 50m long) cable so it can go from downstairs (where the router is) to my room.

Turns out that when I ran the speedtest, there was several apps updating in the background so that crippled the speeds somewhat *Shrugs and laughs* its faster now though so
