Enigma IV

Hi guys

I bought my Enigma IV in march or may can't remember exactly.
My Spec:

4Gb Ram
500Gb Harddrive (7200rpm)
Win7 Ultimate (64bit)

anyway.. my laptop started been very very slow as my harddrive started filling up. so I used Dban, wiped the entire drive and started again and its fast again.yay.

My question is, has the Enigma IV got space inside for an extra harddrive? I want to install an SSD to install my OS and Office on it. possibly upgrade the ram but also do PC Specialist sell what I'm looking for? before i start looking at crucial pc world etc.
also is it easy to install SSD and RAM on an Enigma IV?

Guild Wars 2 rocks on this Machine.

Thanks in advance

According to the PCS Configurator the Enigma IV does have room for a second hard disk. PCS can also sell you an SSD and additional RAM as an upgrade (it looks like you have 2 RAM slots in there). Give PCS a call and talk to them about what you need.

If you do install an SSD I'd make it your primary drive and install Windows and all your applications on there. You'll find that not only is booting much faster but program loads are faster too. I have my SSD partitioned, one partition for Windows and applications and the other partition holds my very active data (the stuff I'm using all the time). That way not only are program loads fast but operations on data files is fast too. :)

Thanks. Would you say I install Guild Wars 2 onto the SSD since i'm playing that a bit while on break from Uni and then have pictures, movies, Documents etc on the 500gig (7200rpm HDD). also is it worth having 16Gig RAM or put it another 4gig ram which takes me to 8 gig or stick in an 8 to take me to 12gig ram? don't know if 12 or 16gig Ram will benefit or 8 is enough.

all i do on my laptop is research Uni work and type up, Guild Wars, Football Manager, Occasional Arma2, and my fiance' she has installed all the sims 3 on my laptop lolz.

Thanks in advance

8gb RAM should be plenty but what sort of uni work do you do?. I haven't noticed any significant different in loading times between an SSD and a HDD. Was there any particular reason for Windows 7 ultimate?

8gb RAM will be plenty and it's best to install most used programs on the SSD,yes.

Apart from the RAM limits for the different editions of Windows 7 64bit,
Home Premium: 16GB
Professional: 192GB
Ultimate: 192GB,
you can check the differences here, most users won't need the extra features of Professional or Ultimate.

I see your point. I'll have a look around for home premium to minimize space needed if I install an SSD. Thank you.

The values Vanthus mentioned are not how much space the install takes, it's how much RAM the different OS versions are limited to using - so for example if you had Home Premium and had 32GB of RAM, 16GB would never ever be used/accessed.
Ulimate may take a little more space on the install (though I just dont know) but I suspect not too much.

If you already have a Win7Ultimate that you can use, just use it :)
