Latest news from ESO is Free 2 Play (well Buy 2 Play really) is just around the corner, they've recently announced a re-launch under the name of "Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited" on both the PS4 and Xbox on the 9th of June, as well as an earlier release on the PC on March 17th.

What does all this mean?

It means that instead of having to buy the game and then pay a monthly £8.99 subscription all you have to do from March 17th is buy the game and you can play it for free, no subscription. Existing customer who have purchased the game already will automatically have their accounts converted to Tamriel Unlimited!

In other news, CDKeys are selling Elder Scrolls + DLC + 30 day subscription for the bargain price of £9.99, so if you're interested in playing ESO when it goes Buy 2 Play then now's as good a time as any, and you even get to play it for 30 days while it's still a subscription game!

And the world once again was shocked :)

Good news to me. I would like to play all these MMOs at least for a bit, so the freer the better :D

(Bet there are still some that think it will destroy the current market leader, because well, they're actually insane :) )

I bought it from CDkeys last night, did half the download then and will finish it tonight, I played in beta and enjoyed it, but I just couldn't justify paying an on going subscription for it once it released.

Years ago I used to be an avid mmo player with multiple accounts on multiple games paying multiple subscriptions, on star wars galaxies I had 6 account paying almost £10 per month on each of them and at the same time paying subscriptions on 3 accounts for dark age of Camelot.

I've now come to the realization that it's just not worth it with any game so I no longer pay subscription based games, but I don't really like free to play games either, granted you don't have to pay for the game, but they get you buy locking content and gear behind pay walls. I do love the buy to play games though, The Secret World have done this brilliantly, nothing in their stores is actually needed to play the game and the content you have to buy is extra additions to the game and not integral parts of the game locked behind a pay wall.

Hopefully ESO will follow TSW's example and keep it to additional DLC and non-necessary items in its store.
