Hi all,

I have recently taken delivery of a new system from PCS, very happy so far.

I have also recently purchased 2 Samsung monitors to go with new system, but have now hit a problem and I'm hoping someone may have the answer.

Will my GTX 650 card run 2 monitors, 1 on VGA and the second using DVI to VGA adapter as with both monitors plugged in the system will not boot etc.

Am I doing something obviously wrong lol

Thank you

The 650 will run two monitors, what ports do your monitors have, also make sure you are connecting to the graphics card and not onboard.

Hi Vanthus,

Both monitors are run of VGA, 1 is connected to the card direct to VGA port, the second to the DVI port via an DVI to VGA adapter.

Both are connected to the card and not the onboard

Does the PC work ok with one of the monitors connected? if so it could be a faulty adaptor or cable,

PC works fine with only 1 monitor, either one and both ok.
Do both work when connecting one monitor at a time, first into the VGA port on the graphics card then one through the DVI port using adaptor?

No only one or other.

I have just connected 1 new monitor via VGA port works ok, then connected 1 of my old monitors direct to DVI port, both work.

It would appear that m DVI to VGA adapter is naff, I have noticed however that it has more pins (DVI) than the lead for my old monitor would this be the issue, if not i will purchase a new adapter tomorrow.

Would I be correct in thinking that I could run a third monitor from the HDMI Port

The extra pins on the adaptor will probably be the analog pins, which are needed for VGA.Trying another adaptor might work.I remember on a previous thread a while back that a graphics card although having DVI-I port, only output DVI-D,hopefully it wasn't the 650.
Best check with PCS about that if you can't get it working.

Thanks Vanthus.

Pretty sure it's the adapter as I can run 2 monitors ok, 1 new VGA and 1 old DVI, as soon as the adapter comes into play it has issues.
