Hi

I bought the ASUS K55A-SX417 laptop with windows 8 installed on it, from **** on the 11/12/12

If I bought Windows 7 Home Premium OEM 64 Bit with SP1 Operating System from pcspecialist, could I get the windows7 drivers needed for my asus laptop: ASUS K55A-SX417 ?

ASUS K55A-SX417H, Intel® Core™ i5-3210M Dual Core Processor, 15.6" HD Screen, Microsoft Windows 8 64bit, 6GB DDR3 RAM, 1000GB HDD, DVD Rewriter, Integrated Graphics, K55A-SX417H

Don't do it, this is ostrich head-in-the-sand thinking. Like it or not Windows 8 is here to stay, Windows 9 will simply build on what's in Windows 8, that's the future. WIndows 7 is comfortable and I understand the agony of leaving your comfort zone, but Windows 7 will not be supported forever. Sooner or later you will have to either make the move to Windows 8.1 (or 9, or 10) and by then the learning curve could be steep. Not only that, but if Microsoft continue to see soft sales for Windows 8/8.1 because people are staying with Windows 7 their response may well be to move up the date of withdrawal of support for it.

If it's just the new Start menu and the new UI you don't like, then invest $5 (US Dollars) in Start8 from Stardock. It is the very best of the many tools that give you back a real start button and a Windows 7 like start menu. I've been running Start8 almost since the first release and it's excellent. I'm now running Windows 8.1 so I have all the benefits of the improvements in Windows but I'm still working mostly with the Windows 7 start menu. The Windows 8 UI is still available of course and I do wander in there now and then so that when they day comes when it's time to move it won't be a complete surprise.

Don't be an ostrich. :)

I have upgraded to windows 8.1, what will happen to the windows 8.1 start icon button, if I install the Start8 from Stardock?

What SmokeDarkKnight said. :)

I have 8.1 and Start8 and you get the Start8 start button. All good.
