Does any one have any experience using laptop on generator?

I am planing to use mine but I am just not so sure if its safe to do.

I read few post on Google but they says laptop work just fine and the term affect work only on Desktop Pc.

The generator that I use is huge and it use diesel when I see its monitor it shows volts going up and down every few secs its around 230V then suddenly goes up to 400V+ and back to 230V.

If you have any suggestion or experienced it.
Please leave your comments I need ASAP.

If it has a very unstable voltage (230V-400V is a hugely unstable) then the transformer in the laptop's charger really isn't going to like it. I can't guarantee that there wouldn't be problems, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Oh yes I belive its unstable but we are using plug from generator to our container (Kinda like caravan but big) it shows that suck mark of 200v-250v on that plug and inside container is some kinda of box kinda like meter box but with no meter system. Inside it is just the on and off switch. It shows 240v mark on every switch like 240v mark on Lights, Socket, Heater etc.
We have also been using TV and Freezers for like months now.
I should have written this too in post befor lol but I forget about it. Oh ya the 230v-400v was in generator moniter only.
So is it possible to use laptop in this condition.

Ty for the respons Yamikotai.

We have a generator on the boat and I often use it to power the laptop. Most generators incorporate an inverter to provide the 220v AC. You need a generator that outputs pure sine-wave, and most do. Pure sine-wave is exactly what the mains power supplies so your laptop doesn't know the difference. :)

Not sure about laptops but working on building sites its never really recommended to charge your battery for drills ect off them as a lot of people say it damages the battery's.
