Does a HD7970 only have 1gb memory?

Hello. Just want to ask a question here before I may have to contact support. Sorry if it's a stupid question but here goes:

I bought a new computer here that came with a 3GB AMD RADEON™ HD7970. Only when I check in CPU-ID it only has 1024 bytes? The card I selected definitely said 3gb, I also thought 7970's only came as 3gb? Is that right? A bit confused

no need to contact support. yes, cpu-id is wrong. look in the amd catalyst control centre, what does it say there. Alternatively right click on your desktop and select screen resolution and then advanced settings. Should show correct info there too.

Ok thanks, one sec...

Yes you are right, it's 3072 in both. Feel a bit stupid now, sorry.

Not uncommon to find wrong info on these type of applications, no big deal. Atleast you know you got what you paid for :)

No kidding. Anyway I just wanted a handy one-stop place to see what all my components size, memory, make etc were, instead of having to look all over for that info. It was just the gfx card info it got wrong.

Erm not sure if that came out wrong or you have picked it up wrong, but you seem to have taken my comment differently than i intended it. All i was trying to say was happy it's figured out, sorry if you took it the wrong way.

I never, I was just agreeing with you. I just think I could've worded it better though, sorry mate.

Also sorry for the slight necro rezzing, but I had to set this straight!

Yeah no harm at all, just a bit of confusion. Sometimes a bit hard to make out exactly what people mean on the internet. No problems, enjoy your spec.
