Defiance 2 Battery

I received my new laptop and have noticed that the battery charges for a few seconds and stops, all this while still being at 0%

Hovering over the battery icon informs me that it is plugged in, charging but still never goes over 0%

Have tried un-installing drivers and then adding them again, did not have chance last night to try letting it run for as long as it could to "reset" the battery or changing plug sockets.

I am wondering if the power cable is just a cheap standard one or if it is specific for the Defiance 2.

Any and all help would be appreciated

Might be a silly question, but is the battery actually charged? ie. if you pull the power cable out does the laptop switch off?

PCS will be able to supply a new power cable if its a problem.

The best way to re-synch the actual state of charge of the battery with the Windows battery percentage indicator is to do the following:

1. Switch the laptop off and put it on charge for 24 hours. Do not use the laptop at all during this time.

2. Unplug the power adapter and boot the laptop. Endure that Sleep and Hibernation are turned off so that the laptop stay on. Ensure that in the Power Options the low battery level is 10% and the action is Notify. Ensure that the critical battery level is 5% and the action is Shutdown. Leave the laptop on and running until it shuts down because the critical battery level was reached. You can use the laptop normally during this time but do not shut it down manually. If it doesn't stay on for at least 2 hours you have a dud battery.

3. Keep the laptop switched off and plug in the power adapter and leave it to charge for 24 hours. Do not use the laptop at all during this time.

After this the Windows battery percentage will be in as close synch with the actual state of charge as you can get. If you still see 0% you most likely have a problem, so give PCS a call.

He gave me the long way for re syncing the battery, I did the long steps in a shorter amount of time because I could.

Both methods should achieve the same results, unfortunately the method did not work.
