Decent gaming PC

Hey, I'm currently looking for a decent desktop, for the sole purpose of playing games on it. I'm not looking for anything ridiculous, as I'm not too bothered about playing everything in ultra settings with 60 + fps, so my budget will be from around £600 - £700, maybe more if it is really necessary, though I would prefer not to. I currently have a quote saved for what I believe to be decent, and should be alright for what I want it for, but it's been a while since I've really kept up with how good certain hardware is etc, so I could be wrong. xD So if you have any other suggestions that is better than what I have, for around the same price, I'd appreciate you sharing. :)

Hi,
If you are nt planning to overclock you wouldn't need the k version for the cpu, the spec below has a caviar black as the main drive and the HD 7870, if you wish to keep it closer to £700 you could go for the HD 7850 instead.

Just to be safe, I think I'd probably prefer not to overclock. Also, the PC would just be connected via HDMI to my TV, and would pretty much only be used for playing DAY-Z, and then maybe Skyrim or something on the side if I got a bit bored, so I'd be looking for something that could run them pretty decently, without breaking the bank. I would prefer to also have something that I can build upon in the future, maybe upgrading the GPU at a later date. Also, hmm, my first post in here, the initial topic, seems to have disappeared? New to the forums so not sure if it's something I did, or?

The spec I posted will run Skyrim and Arma II at high settings, if you want to have more choice when upgrading your gpu then you could consider getting a 650w PSU. Your original post is probably waiting to be moderated.

Ahh, it's there now. xD So other than the 650w PSU, what are the other advantages of the build you posted, over the one in my original post? Sorry for all the questions.

If I were to up my budget enough to accomodate it, would you recommend getting the GTX 670 instead? I've seen them mentioned quite a bit on the forums. I'll only be running the games on a single 46" TV. And also, why the Samsung RAM over the Kingston?

It depends on your budget, the HD 7870 will handle the games you mentioned but if you can afford the gtx 670 go for it.

Well, I'd likely take the option to order on finance and then pay it off within the first year, so I guess it is possible. I'll have a little mess around now, and see what I can come up with, then post the specs, thanks for all the help so far, by the way, much appreciated.

Well, kinda went over my budget, but I think in the long run it's probably better to get most of it out the way with now, and what the heck, it is christmas after all.

Anything standing out that I should change/add/remove?

You could get the P8Z77-V LX, it is cheaper and has more expansion slots, higher memory bandwidth does not provide a noticeable difference in gaming so you could get 1333mhz or 1600mhz and I'd consider going with the i5-3570 if you can push your budget.

Changing both the motherboard and the CPU puts the price up to £949, which is acceptable enough. So based on the build posted with the changes you added, and what I'll be using it for, should it suffice?

I'm glad, because I already went ahead and ordered it already, couldn't stop myself. >_< Thanks a lot for all the help. Also went with 1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD1002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm), rather than the 500GB, just to be on the safe side. My budget went from between £600 and £700, and ended up just shy of a grand.
