CPU over temperature error

A while ago I bought my PC from PC specialist. It's ran completely fine until now, however my CPU gradually overheats whenever I boot the computer now. When entering BIOS (it crashes shortly after fully booting) and looking at the temps it starts at around 60 then reaches 100 in not too long. The case and closed loop water-cooler fans are all visibly running, and the BIOS reports them as around 1100 rpm for case, 1800 for CPU and 2000+ for AIO pump. I recently cleaned it using a soft brush and an electric duster/air blower, and installed two sticks of the same brand and spec of RAM I originally had. Can anyone please help me?

Did these issues present before the clean & RAM install or is it something that has happened after this work?

Can you post your whole spec so that we can have a look at what we are dealing with?

Hiya, can you post your full specs from the order page?

When cleaning or putting in new RAM did you ever remove the cpu heatsink?

None of these issues were present beforehand, but I only brushed the radiator fans and used the duster to remove dust from them, I didn't touch the cooler itself.

This definitely suggests that something has caused a fault then. With the temps going up so quickly it would suggest the pump to me. Can you check the connection just to make sure it hasn't been pulled out.

I would also physically check the pump to make sure it hasn't been dislodged.

A very quick check would be to gently press on the back of the pump then turn the PC on. If it's dislodged, you holding it on will allow contact and it should run normally.

Wait..... is it an AIO you have? The spec list suggests an air cooler?

Yes, an AIO, the FrostFlow 100 I think it's called. As far as I can tell all the connections are solid, the connection going to the 'AIO_PUMP' on the motherboard is seated. The pump itself seems well secured to the CPU and doesn't move about when touching.

So would the ideal solution here be to replace the cooler? Assuming it's pretty certain the pump is the issue?
Yep, RMA the cooler, although personally rather than swap it like for like, I'd upgrade it to a corsair H80i

If you hold both pipes, you may find that one of them is extremely hot and the heat isn't moving along, that would suggest the liquid is not flowing and collecting at the cpu side and overheating.

Actually I tried holding both pipes and it seemed to me that both were cool even when the CPU was reporting 80 and the interface was very hot to the touch. I bought the computer 2 years ago, is the warranty still valid for the cooler with PC specialist? I'd also probably upgrade it as you advised.

So would you suggest opening a technical support thread with their official support (didn't realise they even had them at the time other than through email because phone browsing sucks), or opening straight with a RMA request for the cooler?

You took out standard warranty so you'd have to pay for parts and shipping but the labour is covered.

I would just open an RMA through your online account personally.

Thanks for your assistance, I will do that tomorrow and get a replacement cooler through PC Specialist. Which AIO cooler would you recommend replacing it with? You recommended the H80i but I was wondering about any further opinion, for example whether a 240mm radiator would be better, etc.

The case is the limiting factor, there's no performance requirement for anything over the H80i, and I'm not certain what the case could accomodate.

The case would not fit a 360mm radiator, but the current one is 240mm so I suppose my question is would it be wise to get a 240mm radiator AIO if that is the superior cooler? Or is it unnecessary?

Sorry, very confused as to what cooler you actually have?

In the specs you've listed it's the Frostflow 100 RGB which is a small aircooler.

Then you mentioned it was an AIO
Yes, an AIO, the FrostFlow 100 I think it's called.
but that is again an air cooler, so assumed you perhaps meant the Frostflow 120 but that's a 120mm rad, not 240.

So very unsure what it is you actually have?

I'm honestly not sure the name either, its a 240mm PC specialist own brand AIO cooler, that was what was listed on the spec but for whatever reason it isn't accurate then. That said the case does definitely fit a 240mm, so what AIO would you advise?
