CPU fan noise

The amd cpu fans (standard) are quite noisy for me.

Had a nice long chat on livechat with Paul Harrison.

would be a good silent cpu cooler.!

I would like to ask if anyone knows any better silent ones?
and if i should install the cpu cooler myself (someone whos never done it) and what guidance can you give me?

Ye the Tranq is a good one, the Frozer II is also quite a quiet one.

As for replacing it, you will need some TIM, Arctic Silver MX5, IC Diamond, Shin Etsu, whatever you prefer, depending on size of CPU you'll need a small/medium/large pea sized drop on the top of the chip before placing your new cooler UNLESS it comes pre-TIMed. Either way you will still require something dry and non-conductive to wipe off teh TIM that may have remained on your chip from the stock AMD cooler. You can also pick up a twin pack of ArctiClean 1 & 2, 1 for emoving teh TIM and 2 for cleaning ready for new cooler.

Apart from that, its all quite straight forward and the best thing is not to panic :)

its a bit cheaper which is good

but which one is the better? Im looking for silence/silent noise

and also i will look to overclock my CPU at the start of 2012
