CPU Fan Error, amongst other problems.

Hey guys.

I've had my Desktop PC for a while now. For a while, it's been saying CPU Fan Error on an American Motherboards screen, to which I have to press F1 and then boot manually from my HDD. Here's that screen. http://i.imgur.com/dJ8IyOR.jpg

Also, there's another couple of issues. Sometimes, I'll press the power button, the fans will start and lights will turn on, but then it will all go off again before turning back on like it normally should, and staying on.

And for the last week, sometimes when I press my power button, a whirring grating sound comes quite loudly from the PC. I'm thinking it's from the fan on the side of the HAF X case, as I can feel no air coming out or in or movement of the fan. If I slap the side of my PC where the fan is, the noise goes for a second and then starts again. It makes me just want to not leave it on because it sounds horrible and like it shouldn't be happening, but all my CPU fan rates and temperatures are the same.

I don't know what's wrong or how I can solve any of these issues. Please help me out.
Thanks.

You should definitely get the CPU fan error checked out,it may be a faulty fan or your computer may just need a clean out, dust build up could also be the problem with your side fan.

I've had it for coming up to 2 years now though. I don't think I can call anyone to get it checked out.

Have you cleaned out the computer recently or at all,if not I think that could be the problem. If that doesn't solve the CPU fan error it's really quite easy to replace.

Not really, no.. I need to get some compressed air.
You will get a lot of conflicting advice on how to clean out a computer, but for what it's worth this is how I do It,
compressed air and a paintbrush with bristles made from natural fibres and cotton buds to remove stubborn dust bunnies.
Always keep the can upright & use only in short bursts to avoid the possibility of any moisture being ejected. Also keep in mind when cleaning fans with compressed air to keep the fans wedged with something as spinning them manually can damage the bearings.

Then what is the CPU Fan error? It says that the CPU fan is working fine, and if I choose to boot manually, there is absolutely no problem with the temperature of the CPU or anything else.

I'm not sure why this happens, your CPU temps are fine and obviously you don't have a CPU fan. Some people in this situation just disable it in bios settings,if they have the option.
