Courier claims PC delivered but not really no.

Hi!

http://track.dhl.co.uk/tracking/wrd...002267175061417&PCL_INST=1&COLLDATE=&CNTRY=GB

Notice it says "Signed for".

No.

My parents got home (as I've used their house for delivery) and no sign at all when I phone them at 11:30. Eventually we find that DHL had decided it appropriate to break into the back garden, leave it in a snowy path in the snow and bugger all.

No note through the door, no indication they ever visited. They only found the box at all because now (an hour post "delivery") I ask them to check before I rip DHL a new one.

Obviously this isn't PCS' fault (and it's only your excellent updates that had me checking the tracking in the first place) but if there's any problem with the PC because it's spent an hour in the snow it's obviously you I have to go back to.

You should know who you're dealing with. I will of course be complaining to DHL and asking to see this "Signature" but I advise anyone ordering from PCS to ask for an alternate courier.

Gah, doing that is against their contractual obligations I believe - they definitely shouldn't have done that.

Though do note, all the courier firms are as bad as each other.

Completely wrong but, unfortunately, not altogeather suprising.

DHL's deliveries are probably being affected by the weather (no excuse for this whatsoever though).

Fingers crossed the PC should be fine, it's pretty well protected in the packaging.

I'd suggest InterLink, I have quite a few parcels that arrive, they always have a specific time that they will deliver to you. (E.g. today im waiting for a fan controller - it will arrive between 13:39 and 14:39). This helps greatly.

DHL is not our first courier that we have contracted, they are a marked improvement on the last. Unfortunately whoever you use as a courier, there are good drivers and ones who just dont do their job properly.

Let us know how the PC is, we will look into this with DHL.

Cheers, like I say not your fault but you should probably know. Will be collecting it tonight :) Will post many pics in the show off forum.

I agree about courier companies, they're like hard drive makers, everyone has a horror story, all about different ones.

The DHL Driver for mine is pretty cool, no problems with him what so ever.

Heard a similiar story about Royal Mail, they left a parcel behind one of my work colleagues bin since they wasn't in. They left a note through the door, they went to get it and their my suprise.. it's gone.

Anyway, I would rather pick up my computer at the depot if I somehow missed a pickup or delivery.

Interesting to see this. Most companies that I've dealt with will only tell you 'between 9 and 5' or something like it, which means you end up waiting around all day as sod's law dictates that it'll be nearer to the end of the day. How are DHL with this (if they are PCS's chosen courier)? I'm hoping to place an order for a new pc early in the new year and it would be really helpful to be able to arrange a time for delivery.

I can't really judge DHL yet as they haven't delivered to me yet.
But it's really the personality of the employees of DHL which counts.
You could either get a good one, an ok one or a bad one according to my sources.

Yeah, the main issue was the lack of note. If I hadn't thought to ask them to check it could have been there several days and really would have been f-ed.

The standard service with DHL gives no guaranteed times, however, as additional extras you can select Saturday delivery or a pre 10am delivery.

As an update, I've now got the PC and thankfully everything does appear fine and almost ludicrously quick.

Will of course post pimp-o-pictures in the correct forum in due course :)
