Cosmos V Review

Had my Cosmos V for a couple of weeks now and thought I would write my review.

Here's My specs:

Cosmos Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Intel® Core™ i7 Quad Core Processor 6700HQ (2.6GHz, 3.5GHz Turbo)
16GB HyperX IMPACT 2133MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 8GB)
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 950M - 2.0GB DDR5 (Samsung) Video RAM - DirectX® 12
Hard Disk NOT REQUIRED
128GB SAMSUNG SM951 M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 2000MB/R, 650MB/W)
6x BLURAY ROM, 8x DVD ±R/±RW & CYBERLINK SOFTWARE
1 x 120W AC Adaptor
ARCTIC MX-4 EXTREME THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY COMPOUND
GIGABIT LAN & WIRELESS INTEL® AC-8260 M.2 (867Mbps, 802.11AC) + BLUETOOTH

Its so fast words cannot describe. It boots up in less than 10 seconds, due to the SM951 and the build quality is very good with the exception of the plastic screen surround to the left and right of the screen which is far too flexible and feels like it might snap. But other than that, couldn't be happier..... wait no. tell a lie, I'm gutted that the SM961 is now out, not that the sm951 is slow but it was all that was available at the time (due to stock I presume) and only 128Gb and I would have liked a much larger SM951 M.2 SSD which wasn't available for me to order. Low and behold a better version comes out less than two weeks after receiving mine. Any chance of swapping it for a 256gb (3100mb/s) SM961 PCS??? :-(

Programs open before the mouse button even returns to its rest position after clicking and I have run World Of Tanks and Hard Reset Redux on Ultra settings with no issues at all.

Overall a superb work rig with the ability to game as an aside and it will hopefully last a few years and get me through my degree.

Recommended.

Rat.

Thanks for the review. That is almost the same spec I have on order (except I have only 8Gb RAM). Placed my order one month ago, but parts not in stock. Current ETA for parts is next week. Still wouldn't change anything in the spec. :)

What OS do you have running in there? I'll be putting Linux MINT on mine.

Guessing by the UI of the browser on the first pic. I'd guess Windows 10.

Also great to hear you're enjoying your laptop. The Cosmos series are great laptops and at a very good price as well.
Looking to get one of the M.2 SSDs in my next PC. The speed on them is insane compared to a regular SSD.

Yeah it is running windows 10. Went stock cos my university runs off microsoft cloud (all our course work is submitted through it) and wanted everything to be compatible without having to run VMs. The samsung m.2's are just bonkers - you'll see what i mean when you get yours....
