Configuring the power button.

I see from the manual I can configure the power button;

One option is shutdown.

Is this the same as shutdown from the start menu in win 7?

Basically can I just use the power button to safely switch the system off instead of using the mouse to go to the start menu selecting shutdown and clicking yes.

right click your battery in your notification icons
choose power options, choose change power settings for your current plan/the plan you will use
choose advanced settings
scroll down to power buttons and lid
and change the power button action for either battery or plugged in (or both) to shut down then click apply/ok

now that should make it so you can press the power button and it'll shut down
