Configurator - upgrade maybe

I have been playing around with the configurator for months, but thought it would be nice to see the price difference each component would make before you select the item. I am sure I have seen the "competition" with such a feature.

Bearing in mind I have no idea of how the web design works or the maintenance required to keep this up to date.

I apologise in advance if someone else has already pointed this out

Some items do show the price they cost eg "Vortex Series: 15.6" Matte 95% Gamut LED Widescreen (1920x1080) (£79)", others dont. I dont know if there is a particular logic about which do which dont

I think its because the price of some things change on a frequent basis whereas others don't, so those that don't change frequently do have the price on there, whereas those that do change often don't - or something like that anyway.

I guess my main point goes to on the number of processors, memory, graphic cards, hard drives. I spent ages trying to work out what is best for my budget and the only way of doing that is select and see the price impact.

Due to the way our configurator works this is an option that we are not planning to setup. If you simply focus on the toal price rather than the cost of each component you'll see that we're extremely competitive. :)

I don't think the reason for wanting the price of each component is to compare the prices with competitors. I agree that it would be easier to make decisions about which component to select in each category if prices were clearly visible...

I think what PCS is saying is that certain combinations may not be priced the same as their constituent parts so they cant show individual part prices.

He-he that's so hard to do isn't it ?

I prefer it that way then atleast you see the change to the total rather than work it out for yourself. :tt2:
