Computer stops responding while downloading an update to FS2020 and watching a film

Computer stops responding after 5 minutes of watching a film whilst downloading an update for Flight Sim.

I can open the Start menu and highlight apps etc, but when I click on them nothing happens.

The film you're watching, are you streaming that?

What is your (measured) download speed? If the film is being streamed as well as downloading FS2020 it's quite likely that (since QOS priority will be given to the response time critical film) the FS2020 download is timing out due to excessively long waits for packet acknowledgement.

No the film wasn't downloading. It was already downloaded from a USB stick

Download speed varies, usually around 36Mb. I'll be downloading the update over night with nothing else running

Good idea, though be sure nothing is running in the background. Uploads (automatic backups to the cloud for example) can cause more problems than downloads. This is because they can interfere with the ability of the FS2020 download client to send acknowledgements of received packets in a timely fashion and that can lead to the download stalling.

Of course, it could also simply be an overloaded FS2020 server that can't cope with all the simultaneous downloads....
