I personally would drop the mobo down to a PZ77-V & the GPU to a 670 the i7 to a non k as I don't believe your overclocking on that cooler & with the savings add a Western Caviar Black drive. May I ask why 2 ssd drives?

Could you please explain why your alternatives are better, please?

Will my choices not run FS2004 properly?

I've chosen two SSD's because I thought they were faster than conventional hard drives.

Why do you specify old technology?

FS2004 does not need a really good gfx or cpu so you would be wasting money on a gtx680 as it is complete overkill imo.

A rig with a i5 and gtx670 will run any game without any problems.

2 SSD drives would also be a waste and most gamers would only use 1 for the os and a few favourite games with a larger 1 terrabite caviar black for storage so you can swap whatever game you are using to and fro and store your favourite vids and photos on that :)

Thanks for your interest, but I don't seem to have explained myself properly.

My proposed new computer is for FS2004 ONLY!

I'm not a gamer and have no photo's or video files, so I have no requirement for a huge hard drive.

In fact, the 120GB SSD's that I've chosen will be far too big, but I want to give Windows plenty of elbow room!

At my age (nearly 70) I'm not too good with computers but I understand Flt Sim needs the best possible CPU and Graphics card in order to run smoothly, hence my choices.

It's kind of you to try to save me money, but fortunately my pension easily covers anything that would be required.

So, to ask again, will my original spec run FS2004 smoothly, or do I need to upgrade any component, please?

I concur, the i7-3770 is one of the best CPU you can purchase right now for FS2004, which is very processor intensive, as are many other simulator games. The GTX 680 will keep up with anything you throw at it at 1080p resolution.
