Choosing Processors

Whats the difference between AMD/Intel?

Example:

Why isn't a AMD PHENOM X6 1100T processor better then let's say a Intel Core i7 Quad Core Processor i7-960 or even a i5 Processor?

Surely 6 Core's are better then 4 right?

How do you choose the right processor for gaming?

I know AMD is alot cheaper then Intel, but what makes Intel the more superior in the gaming aspect then AMD?

Anybody wish to elaborate to a noob?

Also any sources on explaining about processors would be greatful for my learning!

God Bless!

99.9% of games dont use 6 cores and half of them still dont fully utilize four

intel usually ave more efficient processors which is why the i7 2600 is the best available

Very useful information thank you very much.

So I've established 99.9% of games don't use 6 cores and majority of games don't use 4 cores yet. So a Six core processor is really not useful for someone who is playing computer games, and a 4 core processor will be "future proof".

Although what is the difference between an i7 2600 and i7 2600k, which version of these processors will be better for computer games?

the only difference with the k version is that it is unlocked so it is easier for overclockers, but overclocking isnt worth it for gaming

intel isnt the leading boss or superior to amd over in gaming. both houses will provide good gaming performances in their good range of up to date cpus.

Intel are just better in performance currently is that their cpus have more power performance than amd but their price shows the difference where amd have a fair price performance ratio for there cpu.

A decent AMD cpu is more than ample to anyone with normal general everyday use like gaming, browsing etc etc.

yes but its worth paying the extra if you can afford it and the benchmarks do show quite a difference on CPU intense games

not by big far margins in my view. it looks big for those cpu intense games due to benchmarks showing 'big' numbers but when in reality check, amd does just as good as intel so intel isnt too far ahead. amd are ample on where they stand in my view.

says the guy with an i7 xD no there is nothing wrong with them, and they are plenty for majority of games, only CPU intense ones like FM or FSX

lol, this is gaming wise im pretty much talking about along with pretty much alot of everyday use. I got my i7 due to work use for my photography and media processing not for gaming.

ideally i would of just gone for the i5 as it was cheaper for my gaming along with my work but i would had to slightly overclock the i5 a little which i dont wana bother with so i lached for the i7 just to get away with without overclocking for its extra stock GHz but upon getting hold of my i7, i had to overclock it in the end sadly to keep up with my workflow; i was hoping the stock clock would keep up with my processing but it didnt lol.

As is always said AMD is the bang for buck stuff so nothing wrong with it and you will be fine for gaming and other things aswell, the intels as everyone says and tests show can be better but you pay for it so when your budget is lower and you want a gaming setup you put the money where you need it and that is the GPU as this does most of the work game depending as a few are CPU intensive but not many.
