Check this spec - gaming use

My budget would be £1000-£1200, but I'd prefer closer to £1000 if possible.
This would be connected to my dual monitor setup, which are both AOC G2460.
I already have two other SSD's that I will connect to this build for storage.
I mainly play Sea of Thieves, but have no desire to try and reach 'ultra' settings on games. I'm happy with 60FPS at medium - high, but want to ensure my system will last a while.

I wasn't sure if choosing the GTX 1660Ti, to save some money, would still make this a worthwhile (or sensible) build. I was basing my thoughts on it still being a decent upgrade from my 970.

Any advice is appreciated as none of this is really my strong point, I only have basic knowledge on certain aspects. Cheers.

I think you can save some money on the GPU, overpowered for your monitors I believe, the AMD stock cooler will be good enough if you're just gaming and you don't need extra thermal paste, the standard is good enough. Regarding the GPU I don't know which one, but someone will be able to help you.

You would never game on 2 screens as the center of vision is in the middle of the screen, it’s either one screen or 3.

That’s why the brought out ultrawides to plug that gap.

That's what I thought...I just tend to get a little confused when faced with 2 identical monitors as opposed to 2 differing ones

Yeah, for gaming, if it’s a 2 monitor set up, always get one premium gaming monitor, then a standard secondary monitor. For secondary monitor I always suggest a basic 4K panel as you can happily fit 4 x 1080p windows one in each corner, so it’s far better for productivity, and generally you can pick up a standard 4K monitor quite cheap.

Yeah, I'd just be gaming on one monitor. The second is just used for general web browsing.

My current system is one I purchased from a friend for £150. It had no HDD/GPU/RAM. It has an i5-3570k and I added the 970GTX from my own older system along with 8Gb of DDR3 1600Mhz RAM. It is a silent PC but has something which is causing a BSOD every time I play games for anything around an hour. I suspect it to be overheating issues as nothing shows up in Event Viewer relating to it. I already invested in a new HDD and freshly installed W10 to rule out any issues with the OS. I've also tried purchasing and adding additional fans by replacing some of the sound proof attachments on the case and re-applying thermal paste with no success. At this stage, I'm about done spending time, effort and money on trying to fix this one since it was only £150 anyway.

The original plan was for a new PC for my wife, however, I will now be putting the 970GTX in my other build (which worked fine before I bought the one described above) and she will use that one when I get the new PC. I get a nice, new, shiny PC and she will have one which is suitable for her gaming needs, which are things like Minecraft, Stardew Valley and other indie titles.

In that case, the spec I posted above would be fine for you..maybe add in a Seagate Barracuda SATA drive to give you extra storage if you feel 512GB may not be enough

I already have multiple additional storage drives anyway, so I'm fine in that department
