It could just have been a failed burn, did you try it again.
If it's not that it could be the nero software needing reinstalled.
You could try other ways of burning a CD with windows 7 to test this.
One way is to use windows media player (for audio CD).insert blank CD,open the files you want to burn, select burn option in media player,To create a burn list, drag items from the details pane (the pane in the middle of the Player Library) to the list pane (the pane on the right side of the Player Library). If you want to change the order of the songs in the burn list, drag a song up or down in the list, then select "burn now"
For data files you can simply use the in built program in windows 7.

also in "my computer" it doesnt recognise that i have an E drive but it will autoplay...
If it reads but wont write,or doesn't do any of them it could be a faulty drive, assuming the drive is write capable and not a ROM ( Read-only memory) drive.
You could give this a try.
Start Registry Editor Click Start, type regedit in the quick search, and then click the regedit icon in the search results. Registry Editor starts.
1. In Registry Editor, expand My Computer, and then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
2. Expand SYSTEM
3. Expand ControlSet001
4. Expand Control
5. Expand Class
6. Search for the key {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and left click on it, bringing the values up on the right
In the right hand pane (topic area), you may have Upperfilters, Lowerfilters or both, click UpperFilters if you have it, and delete it, if you have LowerFilters as well, delete this also. If you only have one of the two, just delete that one, don't worry about the one that isn't there.

I think it's probably a faulty drive, but as you say it's not showing in "computer" it could be the drive letter has somehow been unassigned.
Check in disk management to see if the drive is showing there,
To open disk management in windows 8,
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/disk-management-windows-8.htm
For windows 7,click "Start"/right click"computer"/Manage/under "Storage"select "Disk Management",
or click "start" and type diskmgmt.msc in search box.
It's possible you only need to assign a Drive letter,If no letter is assigned for the drive,
right click on the drive in the lower half of the screen,
select "change drive letter and paths"
click on the Add button in the next menu to select a drive letter.
Click ok to assign selected drive letter or choose your own letter from the drop down menu.
