Can't run Black Ops 2

Hello all,

I would have thought my Optimus 3 would have been able to run Black Ops 2 as it can run much more graphically intensive games. However, for some reason it doesn't. I installed it and booted up multiplayer. Initially it was on a low resolution so I changed it to 1920x1080. I put all settings to the highest they would go to (with the intention to lower them as and when I found the game to demanding). I rebooted my laptop and sine I cannot even get past the initially loading screen (simply crashes every time). I have un-installed the whole game (all 3 part) and reinstalled hoping I could get back to the settings screen with the default low settings, but it appears it has saved the older high stetting.

Any help?

That's what I thought. I uninstalled via the Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall. Is there a place that Steam keeps all old saved settings in case game is reinstalled? The game litereally freezes on the initial loading screen.

Thanks, Just tried that, reinstalling now. Hopefully it will work. Strange though, fist time I booted it I could get into the part where I could join a game. It wouldn't let me in (NAT type was strict). I changed my NAT type and ever since it crashes on the loading screen. Really frustrating.

That is very strange, did you install anything else between trying the first time (when it let you in) and since when its been crashing?

Nope, I changed my graphic settings in the game. Tried to join a game and it wouldn't let me into a public game as my NAT type was too strict (had that issue on older COD's) so I went into my router settings changed that. Rebooted my laptop and ever since I have the freezing issue. Uninstalled the game twice, now doing it the way you recommended.

Installing via Steam (Steam digital download). No sound card (onboard only). Runs on PC rig fine and downloaded onto laptop 3 times in case of a bad transfer. Each occasion freezes at the loading screen (except first time when it seemed to run fine until laptop reboot).

The link above had the answer. Doesn't seem I was missing out on much though, BO2 sucks big time. Run around whilst holding down left mouse again I see...

Thanks for all the help guys.

Beta drivers for nvidia 310.54 were awful and were ment to optimise Blops2 . Infact I couldnt even boot the game with these and had to roll back to 310.33. However 310.61 have released now and they work swimmingly.

Back to square one again for me. Tried to play again tonight and again it freezes upon the loading screen (played for 3+ hours last night with no issues). Went to the Nvidia website and got the new drivers and still not working... *sigh*

Game will run and I can hear the sound, but the picture freezes. If I get it to boot up minimised the music plays fine, I go into the game and it freezes (music continues).

Nope, drivers are up to date et al. Game will load in the background (like if it is minimised) the second I open it up to see what is going on in the game, all video stops/freezes.
