Can we expect any tablets/pads from pcspecialist?

Next year I am starting to teach at the college and bigger part of lessons is delivered via presentations... Even though all my work could be done only on laptop, a tablet device would enable me to be light and more portable (without a backpack for laptop and charger, etc.)... Last few weeks I have been doing research on which of these tablets/pads is best for overall performance, usability and connectivity... I am aware that Windows 8 is coming out next year (even though I read somewhere that tablet version will be available around Christmas this year for vendors??!!!) and it will apparently top up everything that runs on these devices nowadays (yep, even Apple OS on iPad!)... But, except Motorola Xoom and Hp Slate 500, not much seems too promising... So, should I keep money in my wallet until PCSPECIALIST comes up with creature of their own?

As noone else has replied, you may as well get my clueless opinion :D

I would forsee an issue with pads etc...who makes them? With a desktop, and indeed laptop, PCS build them, and as such are able to sell them a lot cheaper than buying off the shelf or Evil Alienware products.

The question would be, would pads work the same? Do PCS have the necessary expertise to build them from scratch? And if not, could they sell them cheaper than elsewhere? (probably not youd think).

You have to believe that Apple and other large brands put alot of work and research into making their highly successful pads. Would it make economic sense for PCS to build their own, which would either have to have unique features/systems, or would need to licence "stuff" from those larger brands.

I for one would love a PCS tablet, and may indeed be the only way I would ever shell out for one, but there do seem a lot of obstacles when they seem to be doing pretty well with PCs and laptops (busy year and that).

Now, having said that, what the **...oh wait, yes, not disguising words either...uhm...what the bloomin' heck (yes?) do I know?!

But hopefully my waffle will inspire a Mod to reply, if nothing else just to tell me to shut up! :D

Hi All,
DeadEye has pretty much hit the nail on the head. Tablets are something we are looking at, but there is a lot of discussion to be had regarding the way to do this.
We can either become a box shifter, like many other etailers selling branded tablets, or go the other route and find a good quality tablet that we can sell under the PC Specialist Brand. Either route has its downfallls, branded is cut throat and would be impossible for us to add value, like we do with pc and laptops, and finding a good quality tablet that we can brand and will sell is also not guaranteed.

In other words, we are still working on this.
