Can someone check if this is a good gaming PC? (and I have a few questions as well).

Thank you for taking your time to help!

Okay, here are the specs:

Case: CoolerMaster MasterCase H500M Gaming Case (I'm hoping this is a full tower)

CPU: Intel I9 - 9900K

Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING: ATX, LGA1151 - RGB Ready

Memory (RAM): 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4

Graphics Card: I'm going to go for a RTX 2070, but simply because I don't see the GTX 1080 or 1080 ti and I can't find alternatives online.

1st storage drive: 4TB Seagate BARRACUDA SATA-III, 6GB/s

2nd storage drive: 1TB Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6B/s

Intel Optane Memory - 32GB (For HDD)

Power supply: Corsair 650W VS Series

Processor cooling: Corsair H115i PRO hydro series CPU cooler

Fans: 3 extra Corsair LL120 RGB fans

-----------------------------------------------

Questions:

1) Will I need an M.2 SSD drive? My understanding is that they are only for smaller builds.
2) Is there anything overkill or underkill in this build, like the power supply etc.?
3) Is liquid cooling worth it?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I have been saving up for this computer for two years so I really want it to be something special!

Hey man thanks for the speedy reply!

I'm not too sure about refresh rates as I'm not too informed on that side of computer statistics or whatnot, but I do have a Dell monitor that I'm looking to use VGA to HDMI cables with in order to pair it with the RTX 2070.

My budget is around £2,000. Thanks!

Have you got the model number of the monitor? It'll be probably on a label on the back side.

Okay mate, I have two monitors - one is a Dell P2312H and the other is a Dell P2311H.

They're both 1080p 60Hz.

There's really no point in anything over a GTX1060 if you're wanting to keep those as your main monitors. Really, if you wan't a more powerful graphics card, you really need to buy a proper gaming monitor at 1440p or higher.

I am looking to upgrade them later, and I am more than willing to go overkill for the GPU simply because (as I hear) there is no real con to having a overpowered GPU except the price.

There's absolutely no benefit to it, it's just throwing money down the drain and not using what you're buying. Total waste.

Okay thank you so much. What about the PC as a whole? Do you reckon (when it comes out) it will be able to tear up games like Red Dead for PC and GTA etc.?

There's zero point to over 16Gb RAM. Best to choose 16Gb of higher speed RAM.

With the i9, i'd personally want a Txm series PSU, they're a lot more efficient and quieter and the i9 will hammer it. The VS series are very budget orientated. I'd keep it at 650W though, that will give you some room for upgrades.

There's zero point to the Optane module for a storage drive. There's no data that will benefit from the speeds.

You want an NVME M2 drive as the boot drive, they're the current standard as the old SATA drives are the older format and a LOT slower. M2 drives are around 5 times the speeds.

The case is decent, there's a good review of it below:

So, I should get an M.2 AS WELL as the HDD and SSD?

I'm going to keep the i9, as a personal preference.

I may go for 2 x 8GB corsair vengeances with 3200 MHZ, if that's any better?

No, the M2 would replace the SSD.

Didn't suggest not getting the i9, but was suggesting a better quality PSU.

Yep, I'd suggest that.

oh okay, brilliant, so the 650 watt TXM? it's ultra quiet and it does land in my price range.

It's a much better unit, it's modular so only uses the cables that are required which means better airflow in the case. It's also better regulated so less prone to spikes and motherboard fries. It's also semi passive so fans will only kick in when it's under pretty serious load, so quieter system.

Okay mate cheers. Question is, can this PC run Minecraft? Only kidding, I'm gonna be playing a lot of Call of Duty and Fortnite, how many frames do you think that PC will reach with 19-9900K and RTX 2070?

When are you planning on upgrading the monitor?

With your current monitor you’ll get a max of 60fps, even if you had the 2080ti, that’s the point, it’s a complete waste.
