Buzzing Noise When Playing Games

Hi all,

I recently reset my laptop to factory settings and everything went perfectly. However, I've noticed that whenever I'm playing a game with my laptop's charger plugged in, there's a noticeable buzzing noise. I've uninstalled then reinstalled my audio drivers in an attempt to fix the problem, but it didn't work. As I mentioned, it seems to generate the buzzing noise whenever I have my charger plugged in. I'm not sure what's causing it, but any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Update: After further research of possible solutions, I found a website asking me to check my GPU for buzzing noises when in use. After loading up 2 different games with my GPU active, it was definitely making a buzzing noise. As soon as the applications closed, the buzzing noise stopped. I really haven't got a clue what's going on.

Specs:
Intel Core i7 - 4940MX 3.10 GHZ
32GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 980M
Samsung EVO 1TB
Windows 10 64-bit

I guess it could be a few things, does the buzzing sound like its coming from the speakers? Or is it from the chassis itself?

If its the chassis it could be a fan spinning up (which ties into it only happening during gaming).

If you're feeling confident you can likely take the back off the laptop and see if anything needs a bit of a clean/dust or perhaps something is stuck in one of the air intakes etc?

It sounds like it could be coil whine, which could be coming from the GPU. This is a common occurrence when running high intensity GPU workloads. As an example, I notice it with my PS4 Pro when playing games at high frame rates. The problem goes away when I’m on the dashboard, though. Unfortunately, I don’t know a fix for this issue.

However, as mentioned above, a simple cleaning of the internals may be all that’s required.
