What would be the performance difference?

Forgive my ignorance.

I would personally take a 2060 over the 3050 to be honest. For savings you could go for the 1660 Super which would offer close to the 3050 performance but wouldn't have DLSS which is really nice to be honest

Faster RAM would help with the CPU performance.

More suitable motherboard for the CPU

Faster Storage

Better PSU for upgrades and ensuring longevity of the build

I personally disagree on the 3050 I don't like the card in general. Premium cost for the performance of a 7 year old card

Thanks a lot! The 12gb 2060 is £50 more, worth it?

For 1080p, the 12400F is, at most, a few percent off the AMD Ryzen 5 5600, it's about 7-8% worse than the 12600K and it performs in line with a 8-core 11700K. That's impressive for a straight 6 core CPU with low power requirements that can cooled by a simple tower air cooler.

Go up to a 12600 or 12600K and other parts of the build will need to be improved such as the PSU, cooling etc. To be blunt on a £1,200 budget, you simply can't afford a higher end CPU and for a 1080p gaming experience you don't need a better CPU.

Thanks a lot. It's just that it's the one part that I am not particularly confident upgrading. More or less everything else I'm not too worried about because I know I can easily upgrade it myself down the line.
However, 1080p is all I need for the time being so it seems like a good option.

I never even noticed it was a 3050 selected  oopsie.

I wouldn't bother with the 12GB one for £50 though. More useful for profession than gaming. You're never going to get near 6GB at 1080p.

Thanks for your help guys. I think I've settled on the build now, with a view to upgrade here and there over the next few years. Now just the wait for payday.

Thanks again.

Bit late to the party but I thought I'd throw in some food for thought. The 6600 (which gives 3060 like performance) is £10 cheaper than the 3050 (which performs like a 1660TI) and £16 cheaper than a 2060 (which gives 2060 performance 😂). Yes it's not quite there in features (although AMD have their own versions of DLSS and RT) but in terms of raw performance, it's quite happily a pace ahead of the rest. Personally for me it'd be a no brainer- I think the 6600 is probably one of the, if not the best value card you can get right now.

I'd also comment on the fact there's only a 500GB SSD in here, which is fine but I'd imagine would need to be added to pretty quickly depending on the games OP is planning to play.

Something to consider GPU wise. Would appreciate others opinions on that too because I'm pretty clueless.
I have a couple of hard drives that I can add for general storage. Plus I'm pretty focused in terms of gaming, I don't skip around lots of games. I only ever have 1 or 2 that I am playing at any one time.
