Budget gaming desktop

Hi all,

Long time since I've been in the market for custom PCs. I'm looking to get my son a budget gaming PC mainly for Fortnite and Overwatch, around £600-£650. Are there a y glaring issues with this spec? I'd consider adding more memory in the future if needed.

The case would limit future GPU upgrades. If you're likely to stick to lower end and usually lower power / more efficient GPUs, that might not be an issue.

the 1x8gb slow RAM is not ideal at all but at least that is something you can upgrade down the line and is cheap for now do not too inefficient cost-wise.

Do you need wifi? If not, drop the card. If you do, consider the AX200 card for another tenner as it has a lot more features

Thanks. In one of your other posts you mention the 2600x CPU. Is that a better fit with a GTX 1650? From brief research people seem to suggest the 3600 would be somewhat wasted paired with that graphics card.

Gaming will mainly be 1080p and could extend in future to 1440p.

This takes you over budget but if you will be looking potentially at more demanding gaming, a better case like the Fractal Focus G would be my strong recommendation. Even if it means delaying the purchase a little.

The R5 3600 is sensible as you will be keeping the CPU for a while, and it will help with future GPU upgrades, without being an excessive spend.
