I actually noted Sony Vegas Pro 10 was crashing for me during rendering almost every time, too. I read online this could be due to RAM. I have 16GB RAM so could they be defective? Apparently that BCCCode is often caused by defective RAM I am seriously sick of computer problems...I start Uni next week.

Could point to a ram issue, try running windows Memory Diagnostics Tool.
Open the Control Panel (All Items View)
Click on the Administrative Tools icon, and click on windows Memory Diagnostics Tool.
or for a more thorough test run memtest.

Also, earlier on I had two Google chromes open with around 15 or so tabs, along with several other programs liks MSN and Steam and the RAM rocketed up to 16GB.

Now, at idle with just this one tab open it is using almost 6GB.

Have you disabled the page file by any chance??

Try Running Chkdsk /f /r

Click start and type cmd, then right click cmd prompt and run as admin.

Once cmd come up type Chkdsk /f /r and press enter.

Then press Y for yes to run on next boot and enter.
