Hi
I received my brand new Vortex III laptop this afternoon and would like to know if the symptoms it is showing indicate a faulty graphics card and a need for the unit to be returned or if they may be fixed with a simple re-boot.
When I started the machine, I was presented with some garish red screens saying Windows 7 was starting for the first time. When I reached the point where you can enter your details, the screen was mostly pink - and EXTREMELY FLICKERY. It looks as though it is stretched too much to the left and right sides and there is a vertical REPETITION of about a third of the screen.
I don't know if this is symptomatic of missing drivers, if you are expected to install everything yourself - or if this might be the consequence of a bump in transit.
Please advise.
Is re-booting the machine at this stage an option ? Is it O.K. to switch it off ?
I was able to disconnect it from the internet. I don't want it zapped before I have any anti-virus in place.
