Blue screen message then shut-down

Hi all, had my PCS desktop since december and have been enjoying up untill the last couple of weeks when i have been getting an intermittent problem.

Posting this here before trying the PCS phone support incase someone can offer some advice or even a fix, (as I am fairly poor at sorting these things myself).

Occasionally I will be working away, or browsing when i get the blue error screen come up with the following message:

Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area

The PC will show this message for a few seconds then shutdown and attempt to re-start.

I have started it in safe mode with no problems so am thinking there must be a problem with a program that has recently been installed that doesn't start in safe mode?

Has anyone got any idea of how to find the offending program / hardware?

All my drivers are up to date (I believe and have stayed on top of the windows updates AFAIK)

order number was 368391 if that helps anyone.

any assistance will be much appreciated.

If you can try and get the code on the blue screen if it happens again it will be about 3 quarters of the way down the page and be a string of numbers (ie. 0x00000005) this will help people find a solution also you could try if you can remember what programs you have installed since the problem started uninstalling them and see how you go on.

Thanks, however pc has now failed to boot, have booted from Windows cd to try system repair, root cause found: system volume on disk is corrupt. I then tried to reboot from my HD but still getting boot failure. Anyone got any ideas as to me it looks pretty grim.

You won't want to hear this. But last time I had that problem, a full format and re-install fixed it :(

Thought it might come to this, as its the first time I have had to do this, is there anyway of transferring some files before I re format the hd and re install Windows?

Try getting it to boot into DOS. I think it should still work if you can get that far?

If so, you can use XCOPY to move data from C:\ to USB Drive.

Things have now got a whole lot worse, powered on the pc to try and boot into DOS and got power to the led's on the front of the case but nothing else, no boot or signal to my monitor, didn't even get the 'beep' that normally sounds when i first power on. Think it is officially dead, will be calling tech support at pcs when i get home from work.
