BIOS Upgrade

Hi,

I ordered a Vortex III with the Radeon HD 7970M a while ago. Can anyone please let me know the manufacturer of the BIOS, and whether it would be safe to flash any BIOS upgrade downloaded straight from the manufacturer's website (if one is available)?.

I'm a software developer and use virtualisation a lot so I'm interested in having a fully customisable BIOS as opposed to a limited one as normally seen in most laptops, especially in the CPU features.

If you go into your BIOS it will tell you the BIOS make and version and date.

Usually tapping delete key on start up will get you into your BIOS. Once there at the very top it should tell you.

Once you know the make and version you can either post back here or try google it to get an update.

Some BIOS are safer to update then others. Just totally depends on the vendor.

Thanks for the reply, I assumed that PCS uses the same mainboard (hence BIOS) within 1 generation. The 7970M is getting delayed so I haven't got the new laptop yet. I searched the forums but it seems few people care about upgrading BIOS, just want to know if anyone tried with their laptops.

i owned a vortex II for about 9 months now,

when i first bought it, my laptop used the buggy bios which have a fXXXXX up fan table...it kept bsod n shut down/restart
the i look for bios update from notebook review and i have no problem since then...just a word of advice, clevo/sager/pcspecialist dont released bios to customer anymore because a lot of people dont read the instruction carefully and brick their laptop.

Youll want to contact PCS about bios updates, they are the ones who have the bios versions straight from CLEVO.
