big problem

hi, i had a rat 9 installed but it broke and had to buy a new one which was working till i updated the software and it stopped working aswell as the keyboard also now i can't get the computer to pick up any external hard drives . i dont know if it is a computer problem or what . i was going to reset to factory settings but cause i can't get an external to work id lose everything , can someone give me their opinion on what to do.

i got the computer in may , also after the mouse incident i havent managed to get it shutdown without the blue screen coming up. please help

Try this,turn computer off,unplug USB devices,unplug computer from the mains,leave for 5 minutes or more,during which time hold down power button on computer for a minute.
Reconnect computer,restart computer,connect USB devices.
