Looking for an SSD in a month or two when I get some money as have just ordered new Gaming PC from PCS and want to add second drive which will be SSD. Wondering what the best kind/size to go for is?

Post your thoughts below :D

Can't go wrong with the Kingston Hyper X Series in my opinion.

R.E. Size: Totally up to you to be honest. When you get it I would make it the primary drive and install your OS on it, making it much faster to boot in the process. With that in mind and an ample games library... (understanding that you won't want ALL games on it) I would look at a 256Gb one.

Re the Signature, Still waiting, it's only been 3 Days fella and one was a Sunday :D Keep yer hair on! It took PCS 8 Working days to build/QA and send the Beast out, but would have been quicker if I paid the premium for it.

All good things come to those who wait :D

I use the Crucial CT1024M550SSD1 1TB M550 SATA 6Gb/s 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive. However, when I orderd my mini PC from PCs, I had the 2TB 3.5" SEAGATE SSHD, SATA 6Gb/s 7200 RPM (64MB + 8GB SSD CACHE) as my primary drive and planned to swap it with my 1TB SSD when it arrived. Surprisingly the SSHD is so fast and works so well that I decided to leave it in place. I like the extra storage space as well.

I think generally SSD's are all pretty equal these days, that is to say UNTIL the release of the Samsung 850 Evo range using the new vertical NAND chips, they've changed the field a bit. They're much more reliable, less prone to failure, have much higher overall writes so last a lot longer and they're generally the fastest drives available.

I currently have an old Crucial M4 which is on my desktop and performs brilliantly, very stable speeds and totally reliable.

I have a Kingston HyperX 3k in my MacBook Pro which again is very stable and pretty fast.

Then I have a Samsung 840 Evo in my Vortex IV lappy which is definitely the fastest of the three, but not as stable, ie speeds vary quite a lot.
